One advantage of the holidays: I get to be reminded of all the places online I’ve ever bought anything from in order to unsubscribe from their mailing lists.

My thoughts go out to the ops people on call this week and next.

Just had a ceiling mounted lighting idea combining walnut, @tweethue or @LIFX light strips, & some sort of frosted/opaque plexi.

It’s probably beyond my modeling skills atm, so hopefully by next December.

@reederapp how do I tell Reeder on iOS to subscribe to a feed for a site if I don’t have the site’s RSS feed url, just the site’s plain url?

So many sites don’t provide links to their RSSs feed anymore, and it’s hard to view source on iOS.

Parts of my @AvidCNC machine (everything except the spindle and extrusions Afaict) arrive tomorrow.

Can’t really do anything until I get the extrusions though.

That’s basically 2-3 weeks earlier than I expected.

I bought a CNC machine that has a 48”x48” work area from @AvidCNC.

ETA 3-4 weeks

Hopefully, just enough time to finish up some current workshop projects so that there is space to build the machine.

Observation:

The trend I’m observing in code bases I interact with is the use of *many, many* layers and abstractions.

I do not like this trend.
I think I understand where it comes from.
I’ve been cut by it myself.

Me after learning that to go see a specialist I'll have to fill out 3 to 4 PDFs, none of which use the right stuff to make them easy to fill out on a computer, AND require overlapping pieces of information.

I should have just paid out of pocket to go to #KubeCon. Most of my favorite people are there.

Observation: w/o someone with/in authority making a decision about X you'll end up with a number of conflicting decisions about X. The number of conflicting decisions scales with the organization's size.

I'm trying to understand my thoughts on #golang package design better:

a) Package queue with types (SQS, Kafka, etc) for each implementation in different files

- OR -

b) Package queue with a few interfaces and sub-packages for each implementation: queue/sqs, queue/kafka, etc
